PADEL LEAGUE

RULES / CODE OF CONDUCT

CATEGORIES AND TEAM FORMATS

The league will be divided into 3 categories.

  • Mens
  • Ladies
  • Mixed Double

Clubs may enter their clubs into every category.

Clubs may also enter several teams in each category. For example, Padel Club A and Padel Club B.

Each team will cost R 2500 each. That is R 312.50 per player.

The court time for league matches at each club is for the club’s account.

A team consist of 4 couples (8 players)

Each club will play an away and home match against one another. So essentially each club will play each other twice. The level for players in the winter league will be low-intermediate to 1st level advanced. (2.0 – 4.5). Please see the table below that you can use as reference

Schedule, communication, and cancellations

Matches must be played within a 14-day window period. Club captains arrange their own dates with their opponents at an agreed date and time.  A WhatsApp group is suggested to communicate dates with each club.

Padel League will set up a WhatsApp communication group with the captains for announcements and important information. Each club needs to select a captain for their team.

Matches will commence after the closing date for entries.

Matches that are canceled or moved need to notify their opponents 3 days before the arranged date. No exceptions will be made, and a club will forfeit their match if they don’t notify their opponents within that time frame.

A club is allowed to move their date once and after that the club will forfeit their match and receive zero points.

Scoring format and seeding criteria

Each team will have 4 couples.
The 4 couples will be ranked seeds 1-4 according to their ability in the team they are playing in.
During the league match the format will be as follows:
Seeds 1 VS Seeds 1
Seeds 2 VS Seeds 2
Seeds 3 VS Seeds 3
Seeds 4 VS Seeds 4
So, each seeded group will play 1 match during the meet.
The match will be played in 2 sets with golden points for each game. In case the match is tied to a set per team, a super tiebreaker will be played of 10 points instead of a third set.

SCORES TO BE RECORDED

Once the match is finished scores must be emailed within 48 hours to the Padel League to record the results. The mail needs to have both captains copied in to verify the score. (scores@leaguepadel.co.za)

Clubs that do not comply with the scoring timeline will be given a no result score and will receive 0 for the match played.

WEATHER AND COURT PLAYABILITY DELAYS

If rain delays or unforeseen weather or court conditions disrupt play, the captains will agree to move the game to another date. The game will then continue from where the scores had been left and the game will be concluded and recorded.

PARTNER CHANGES DURING THE LEAGUE

You can only change your partner due to injury. You need to notify your captain and you may then not re-enter the league.

A suitable replacement may be found for future matches and fees will be negotiated for repayment amongst your league participants. Our suggestion is to take the number of matches left and divide the entry fee.

As for injuries during the match, the winner gets +7 in the first 2 sets and in super tiebreak gets +5. The loser gets +1 point if it is in the first 2 sets and if it is in super tie break he gets +2. If he/she gets injured before the match starts it would be -1 for the loser and +5 for the winner.
